Meghalaya cop trainer suspended for ‘urine therapy’
Two police constables in Meghalaya were forced to drink the urine of
their fellow trainees by their instructor as punishment following a
minor scuffle in the camp. The Meghalaya police has suspended the
instructor. The incident happened on August 5 at the 2nd Meghalaya
Police Battalion in West Garo Hills district’s Tura town. Battalion
officials said instructor P Borah had asked trainees A Shiangshai and T
Lyttan to drink urine following an allegedly drunken brawl with three
other trainees. The ‘punishment’ followed a complaint by the mess
commander. “A departmental inquiry was ordered after the five trainee
constables gave their statements. The inquiry report, expected soon,
will decide the next course of action, ,” Meghalaya director general of
police N Ramachandran told HT.
