Baldness no more

Dr Akshay Batra, President, The Trichological
Society London and Director, B Perfect, answers common queries about hair transplantation.
What is the difference between FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) and strip method of transplantation? FUE and strip method are different procedures, but the final result is exactly the same. The placement of the grafts and the final aesthetic look of the patient is also the same. The only difference is in the removal of
the grafts — in FUE, grafts are removed one by one or in small groups whereas in strip method, an entire strip of hair is removed. Thus, there are tiny pinpoint scars with FUE and a linear scar with strip method.
Are the scars visible with both methods? The linear scar of strip method may be visible if the hair is shaved-off completely, not otherwise. Scars of FUE are not visible at all.
Which is better — FUE or strip method? We, at B Perfect, perform the procedure that best suits the patient, depending on the case. However, both procedures are fine, though the strip method is more common and useful for larger areas of baldness when more number of hair is required. FUE is better for smaller areas of baldness
when lesser hair is required.
What results can be expected from hair transplantation? The results are permanent. You will have your own natural hair growing back for the rest of your life. Your hair
can be combed, oiled, washed, cut and styled the way you want.
Is hair transplant painful? It is not painful. In fact, it is so comfortable that while the
procedure is on, you can watch your favourite movies on television, read a magazine or even talk on the phone. The procedure is safe and has no sideeffects.
