holds a night bazaar and provides medical aid to 5000 pregnant women…

The novelty features of this year’s exhibition, (which is on till today, at Vivanta by Taj) include a night bazaar for people to shop at odd hours, and also the fact that the exhibition displays men’s couture by women designers. The focal point remains women entrepreneurs as only women who work from home e allowed to display their items, while shopkeepers aren’t. Clearly, the endeavour is to help these women greater heights in business. “We have seen many of our participants to have launched their very own brands… Over the years, the buying power has increased thereby enabling us to expand to other cities such as Delhi and now Hyderabad,” says Darshana M Doshi, President of Ladies Wing of IMC, as she emphasises that the highlight this year is “that IMC is providing folic acid and iron tablets to 5000 pregnant women in slum areas, which will prevent defective children born. In slum areas, we shall start the distribution of the tablets at Dharavi with the help of Sion Hospital.” b_shreya@dnaindia.net |
