On January 25, 2019, the audience can expect fireworks at the box office. BT has it that Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi will clash with Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30.
Manikarnika, which will see Kangana as the warrior queen Rani Laxmibai, was initially slated to release on April 27, 2018. The makers then toyed with the idea of releasing it on August 15 this year. But finally, they have now decided on a Republic Day weekend release, next year.
When we reached out to the studio backing the period drama, the spokesperson confirmed the development. Preparations are on in full swing to bring out a teaser over the next few days to announce the date of release.
Interestingly, earlier this year, trade pundits had announced that Hrithik Roshan’s biopic on mathematician Anand Kumar, would release on the Republic Day weekend, 2019. It will be interesting to see how these two will battle it out at the box office in the coming year.
