With the festive season upon us, beauty experts suggest ways you can glam up for Navratri

The Navratri season is almost upon us and a number of revellers are already gearing up for the nine days of dance and fun. With most women opting for backless cholis and midriff-revealing lehengas, looking their best from head-to-toe is imperative. Dr Nishita Sheth, aesthetic dermatologist Looks Clinic, says back polishing is a popular beauty treatment during this season. “A combination of microdermabrasion, chemical peels and laser treatment, this is carried out in half-hour sessions. Interestingly, it's not just youngsters but middle-aged homemakers who also come in for the treatment,” she says.
Dr Milan Doshi, cosmetic surgeon Allure Medspa, feels, “Everyone wants to look their best for which they go for treatments such as botox, fillers, facial rejuvenation and laser hair removal. Botox is frequently used for reducing fine lines on the forehead, eyes and mouth. Dermal fillers are also injected into the skin to plump it up, and smooth out lines and wrinkles.”
Navratri is the time when women need to put their best face forward and hydrating and exfoliating your skin is important, explains Dr Bindu Sthalekar, consultant dermatologist Skin Solutions Clinic. She says, “Women are going in for microdermabrasion, a cosmetic procedure that uses a mechanical medium for exfoliation. It gently removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells from the skin surface delivering instant results.”
Dr Mohan Thomas, senior cosmetic surgeon Breach Candy Hospital, adds that chemical peels and fat grafting are also popular “Performed under a short anaesthesia, fat grafting adds volume and rejuvenates the face making it look more vibrant. But, the most recent trend is an increase in demand for treatment of hyperhydrosis or excess sweating. Sweating can leave stains on the armpits of clothes and can be treated temporarily by Botulinum toxin,” he says. Excessive hair in unwanted areas is a common problem says Dr K E Mukadam, Dermatologist & Dermato surgeon, Laser Cure. “It can be a source of considerable embarrassment, limiting people’s activities. Now more people prefer to have their skin absolutely hairless. Therefore, they opt for laser hair removal.”
