Having a younger sibling can be fun, but it is also about the responsibility of inculcating good habits in them and being someone they can follow. With a sibling around, one is usually careful about what one says or does. Invariably, the sibling tends to pick up and learn behav iours and attitudes pretty fast from the elder brother sister, who is their role model.
Here is how you can help them inculcate the right values...
Talk properly
Using slang is a big no. Use words like `Please', `Thank you', `Sorry' frequently in your daily conver sation with people at home.
Avoid fights
Try to avoid getting into a fight with a friend when you are around your younger sister or brother. You don't want herhim to pick up your ways, do you?
Spend time with them
Play games with your siblings and spend time with them. This makes them feel that they are an important part of your life and boosts their confidence.
Never shout at them
If you are trying to do your homework and shehe is bother ing you, first kindly ask herhim to stop annoying you. Or delegate some work that will keep herhim engaged. Avoid shout ing or acting irritated.
Stay in touch
Try to stay in touch with your sibling while you are away from home. Shehe will probably miss you more than your parents do.
Don't nag
Avoid being a nag. Watch over herhim, but like a close friend and not like an over-protective, helicopter parent.
