CULTURAL CENTRE AT THE NEW STATE LIBRARY BUILDING, Panaji

Built by the state art and culture department; work started in 2008 and it was inaugurated last year Goa’s new state library building, Sanskruti Bhavan, contains a stateof-the-art, 2,784-sq-metre cultural centre housing a graphic studio, three studios for painters and sculptors and two art galleries. Built by Goan industrialist and art collector Dattaraj Salgaocar in 2008
This non-profit space was built to encourage the appreciation of the visual arts through education and dialogue, says Salgaocar. The 1,000sq-metre centre has two galleries, one for curated shows and one for emerging artists. It holds film screenings, book readings and runs an art school for children.
