Massage therapy not only enhances your skin tone, but also lowers your blood pressure and helps prevent colds

An expert at the University of Alabama in Birmingham says massage therapy can lower blood pressure, prevent colds, enhance skin tone and more. Licensed Massage Therapist Arnold Kelly said massage provides two types of benefits: immediate and cumulative.
Reduced anxiety and stress Stress seems to creep into the lives of almost everybody, and a massage can do a lot to help. “Immediately after the massage, you can experience reduced tightness in the muscles, improved blood flow and breathing and reduced anxiety and stress,” Arnold explained.
A sense of well-being “Long-term, the benefits of massage accumulate; it can increase a person’s range of motion, strengthen the immune system and provide an improved sense of wellbeing,” he added.
Universally beneficial Apart from Swedish and Deep-tissue massage, Neuromuscular and Trigger Point Therapy are the other two major types that have proven to be universally beneficial, said Arnold.

Which one is right for you “Clients often inquire about which form of massage therapy is right for them. What you should look for and ask about are things like: For how long has that particular type of massage therapy been around; how long has the massage therapist practiced it; what is it based on; and whether it focuses more on the physical or mental aspect,” Arnold said.
How often to go for it How often massage therapy can be utilised varies from person to person. “Someone who has little to no physical issues and is simply looking to relax and unwind can benefit from a once-a-month massage. Someone who has a problem that can benefit from regular massage can go for it even on a daily basis. My regular clients average about once a week,” Arnold stated. ANI

Get a physician’s opinion first If considering a massage, first visit a physician to see if the therapy will help, then choose a licensed therapist.

Get rid of aches and pains >>“Swedish massage is for those who are interested in just relieving stress. If there are deeper aches and pains, deep tissue massage can help take care,” Arnold explained.
