City’s woman priest is busy with Ganpati pujas
Dressed up in a white saree and spotting a tilak on her forehead,
Megha Ghokhale, the one and only lady priest, is seen busy performing
Ganash “poojas” at different places in Navi Mumabi. This resident of
Artist Village , Belapur, is considered as the one and only lady priest
across Navi Mumbai performing every Hindu rituals and rites solemnly.”I
perform Pran Pratistha in a very elaborate way and so I would like to
devote as much time required to do it as per each and every customes. On
the Chaturthiday day, she performed nearly 10 poojas.
Megha Ghokhale made her way as a full-fledged priest after taking training from Guru Suvada Jog.
She is an household name thanks to her dedication and is seen continuing
her duty of a full-fledged priestess in and around the city for the
last 15 years.
She does poojas for families , clubs , associations, banks from the metros as well as from other parts of the states .
She does Ganpati poojas for Western Railway headquaters at Churchgate and many branches of banks in the city.
Born in a devout Maharashtrian family, she was brought up in the army station Mahu, near Indore.

Completing her Master degree from Indore, she came to Navi Mumbai
in 1984 after marriage and started working with a national dairy farm .
After eight years of service, she took voluntary retirement in 1994 .
To fulfill her passion for reading Hindu transcripts, a habit which she has inherited from her grandfather , she devoted her time reading holy books, epics ,manuscripts and to learn hymns and slokas and gradually she made her way as a ful fledged priest after taking training from Guru Suvada Jog(late) ,the noted priestess of Pune for six years as an intern.
“She mastered her profession with great sincerity.
She has a nature to describe every rituals and its significance giving a human touch . So she is now our permanent priest performing Ganesh pooja s wel as other religious rituals,” said Salan Tillu, from Vashi.
