3 THINGS TO CONSIDER WHILE CHOOSING A PERSONAL TRAINER
If you have a goal in mind
that you want to achieve be it weight loss or a better fitness
quotient -then having a professional help you out will increase your
chance of attaining the goal manifold. While most gyms provide you with
trainers who oversee your exercise routine, opting for a personal
trainer is always a good option if you want to speed up the results.
Here are three things to keep in mind when you hire your personal
trainer:
1. KNOW YOUR NEEDS
Before you set out to find a
trainer, write down what your needs are. Do you want to lose kilos or
tone specific parts of your body? Do you want to achieve overall
fitness? Or do you want to keep a medical condition under check? After
you decide what you want, visit a fitness centre to find out about
trainers. Says Meghna Raju, a gym instructor, “Every gym has its set of
personal trainers. But, don't blindly sign up for one without discussing
with them what you seek to achieve. If the idea is to keep your sugar
levels in check, then enquire about trainers who specialise in aerobics
and medium intensity cardio.“
2.FIX A BUDGET
Many do not
opt for fitness trainers because they usually charge a bomb. Arpit
Mehta, a marketing manager, says the
best way to find a trainer within your budget is by enrolling in a gym
instead of a swanky health studio. He adds, “When
you choose monthly plans in gyms, they allot a trainer who will pay
personal attention to your routine a certain number of times every
month. So,
adding a few more sessions with himher will not burn a hole in your
pocket. You can also hire a trainer on the basis of sessions instead of
days.Even if you get personal attention from your trainer once a week,
you can always ask himher to chart out your weekly routine and follow
it.“
3. KNOW THE TRAINER BEFORE YOU HIRE
Ensure the trainer
is certified to guide others and is experienced. Ritu Aparna, a voice
coach, says, “I signed up with a trainer because he had this impressive
certificate and a snazzy physique to boot. But, I had a tough time
convincing him that I just wanted to lose kilos and not build muscles.
He would insist on weight lifting and a heavy treadmill routine, which
would leave me exhausted. It was not helping me reach my goal. I finally
had to speak to the fitness centre and change my trainer.“ It's
important to have a personal understanding with the trainer before you
hire hisher services. Ask a lot of questions and be sure the answer
satisfies you. Women who aren't comfortable being trained by men could
consider a female trainer.
WHY DO YOU NEED A PERSONAL TRAINER
He motivates you when you don't feel like challenging yourself
He ensures you take up work outs that best suit your needs
He tells you what the right way of exercising is
His governance reduces chances of gym injuries
You get maximum result within a stipulated time
