Bombay Times gives you a list of tips that will help soothe your bad throat:
GARGLE WITH WARM SALT WATER
This is the numero uno advice that you’ll receive from everybody you know. And why not? It’s perhaps, the best remedy when it comes to curing a sore throat. Gargling with warm salt water eases the swelling and inflammation in the throat. Gargle at three-hour intervals.
HAVE LOZENGES Yes, that’s right. Sucking on lozenges help stimulate the production of saliva in the mouth, thereby keeping the dry throat, moist. Also, most lozenges contain vitamin C, pectin and zinc. These help to improve the body’s immune system.
CONSUME PLENTY OF FLUIDS
When struck with a sore throat, one thing you must do is to consume plenty of fluids during the day in order to keep the throat moist. Besides this, it helps in flushing away the bacteria that accumulate in your throat. Keep sipping warm water throughout the day. Also, hot beverages like tea and coffee help. A warm glass of water mixed with a little lime juice and honey is also good.
INHALE STEAM Most of the time, we develop a sore throat as a result of a bad case of cold. Inhaling steam helps clear the blocked nasal passages, thereby easing breathing. And not just cold, inhaling steam is good for sore throat, too. To make the best out of the inhaling steam method, just add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the water.
