Cancer treatment at Jupiter Hospital

Cancer treatment at Jupiter Hospital

For a cancer patient, the treatment is not only
a painful experience, but also financially draining.
Instead of going all the way to Mumbai's
Tata Memorial Hospital for subsidised cancer
treatment, the cancer patient can avail the facilities
provided by the Jupiter Hospital in the
city. There are 21 beds here for cancer patients.
Kunal Sonawane, has been undergoing
treatment for four months at Jupiter Hospital.
"I was diagnosed with cancer seven months
back. I went to the Tata Memorial Hospital for
chemotherapy but I was put on a waiting list
there. I had heard about the Jupiter Hospital
and got admitted here," Sonawane says. "The
cost of treatment is reasonable and the staff
takes good care of the patients," he says.
"The room rates are Rs300 per day including
meals. Bed charges, OT (operation theatre)
charges, radiotherapy, doctor charges,
diagnostics, cath lab facility are subsidised.
To avail the facilities, the patient needs to get
in touch with a doctor or the social welfare
division. Patients don't have to provide any
documents to prove their economic status if
they are poor," an official from the Jupiter
Hospital said.
