Looking good when you are ill
Worse than the feeling of being sick is the thought of not looking your pretty, perky self. It just worsens the illness somehow and leaves you down in the dumps. While being healthy is inherent to looking and feeling good, that’s no excuse to not be presentable (especially when you are expecting a visit from your latest squeeze). Here are a few things you can do for a little pick-me-up:BATHE Many people conveniently give their daily shower a miss when they are ill. Run a hot water bath. Bathing makes you feel fresher, cleaner and perkier. You will notice your mood will improve dramatically. If you feel too sick for a bath, the least you can do is to wipe yourself clean with a wet wash cloth.
MOISTURISE It’s easy but not ok to get slack with your skin care regime on days when you are sick. Your skin craves moisture, especially since in this cool and dry weather. In addition, some medications tend to dry out your skin. Use a gentle moisturiser that will nourish your skin. When your skin feels good, you will feel good.
HYDRATE Now that you slapped on moisturiser, make sure to hydrate and moisturise your skin from the inside. Go easy on those generous servings of coffee, keep sipping on hot herbal tea that will sooth, and calm you along with guzzling lots of water. Keep a bottle of water at arm’s reach.
RED EYE EFFECT When you are running a fever, you might feel dehydrated and your eyes are the first to feel the effects of dehydration. Eyes could get dry, red and itchy. You might also notice that eyes lose their sparkle when you are ill. Keep some soothing eye drops at hand to clear out red eyes and to moisten them.
STEAM Steaming is beneficial in more ways than one. Go ahead and get yourself a good steam session on sick days. It will clear your sinus and gives your skin that much needed pick-me-up. Add a few drops of essential oil to the water for even better results. Steaming is healthy, beautifying and relaxing.
You don’t have to look dropdead gorgeous but presentable when you’re ill
