Office nap pods are a trend

Face it. None of us really
get those eight hours of sleep that we need each night owing to the TV,
insomnia or an addiction to the smartphone. Looking like what the cat
dragged in on a Monday morning though, won't go down well with
employers. To combat this, experts have been musing over the idea of
allowing their staff to power nap during a break, so as to recharge
them. Studies have found that this may make it possible to regain
productivity. While a few places in the West have frowned upon on the
idea, others feel there's much to regain with the benefit of a
well-rested individual.
IS 20 MINUTES THE NEW SHORTCUT TO WORK PERFORMANCE?
What's gaining in popularity as a response to this are nap pods with leg rests that look very futuristic. The pod is placed in a more quiet area of the office. It has a comfortable, reclined seat and a dark visor that is meant to ensconce the employee into forced silence and tranquility for those 20 minutes they spend in it. Of course, there is a small timeralarm that goes off should you get too comfy enough and oversleep. So far, these pods are being used in offices, hospitals, airports, fitness centres, and universities. With so many multi-tasking through the day and cheating on sleep, is this an idea that we could use back home too?
BENEFITS
Power naps can boost memory Research says snoozing off reduces burnout as well as the stress hormone cortisol, after a nap A study carried out by a pod-producing company says just a 20-minutes downtime results in a 30% boost in alertness
WATCH OUT!

Did you know sleep is now being called the `third pillar' of health?
