Get your makeup right for the perfect selfie click

Get your makeup right for the perfect selfie click

Love selfies, but hate the way your face looks sometimes up front and close on the camera? Then perhaps, you must have gone wrong with your makeup. Here are a few basics you must remember before you flip open your camera and pout for a selfie...

GENERAL FACE RULE
Avoid glossy makeup, tex tured base creams and moisturisers because there are high chances they will reflect and make you look washed out and ghost-like on the camera.
Using a primer or a BB cream is a must before you put on your makeup. Go for matte primers and ensure you apply them carefully on your T-zone, so your face is oil-free and less shiny .
Use a concealer that is a shade lighter than your skin colour to make it appear natural.
“Never ever skip your blush. You obviously don't want to look pale in the photo,“ says Srishti Vaidya, a stylist, “But it's also important to choose the shade wisely . Opt for a bronzer that is a few shades darker than your skin, and a blush that leaves a natural hue on your cheeks. Again, opt for matte bronzers and blush to avoid looking sweaty or like you have applied glitter on your face.“

FOR A FULLER EYES
Eye makeup must open up your eyes and make you look fully awake. Use an eyeliner on both the upper and lower lashes to give that fuller look. Use outward strokes while applying mascara to make your lashes look longer. “Black is the colour you must rely on for the selfie look. Since it stands out better, it also highlights your eyes and draws attention towards them,“ says college student Bhoomika Trivedi.
If you have sleep bags or dark circles around your eyes, conceal them right away. You want to look awake and full of energy while clicking selfies, not like you could do with some more snooze time.

FOR THAT PERFECT POUT
What's the use of dolling up for a selfie if your pout is not drool-worthy? Use a pale colour on those kissable lips and highlight or outline them with a complementing tone. Or if you are feeling experimental and bold, go for red.“Don't go for shimmery lipsticks because it will take away from the rest of your face,“ advises Bhoomika.“For the perfect touch, use lip balm pre and post application of your lipstick,“ insists Srishti, “This will ensure that in case your lips appear cracked up or caked because of the lipstick, it doesn't appear like that in the photo.“
